The only upside of a sudden massive drop in temperatures, and the end of most of the garden, is that the house is now full of flowers. 💐 These are all from my picking frenzy on Friday, before the cold front hit. Now just waiting to see if the cold hardy vegetables like kale and broccoli will perk back up, or if the garden is totally done for the year. I’m hoping hard that some things held on! I got both my COVID omicron booster and flu shot 48 hours ago (medical experts are recommending this), and I can now confirm that it was fine! I had an especially rough time after my third shot, a bit less so after my fourth, and while perhaps this was affected by an eight month gap between this shot and my last one, this was a much easier go then either of those, certainly not made worse by getting the flu shot at the same time. The COVID vaccines are free to everyone, and the flu shots and all vaccines are free with almost all insurance under the Affordable Care Act, so no reason not to go get your jabs as soon as you can to protect yourself and others. 💉😷👏
I don’t have a single pic from #FutureProofAC where my hair isn’t getting blown around, but that’s the price of a fully outdoor (and thus much safer) event. Thanks to @morningstarinc for bringing me along and for supporting Wallet Activism! [image: me over a big stack of copies of Wallet Activism, with messy purple hair]
My #FinCon22 trip was short and cautious but oh so sweet. So grateful for my wonderful friends in the personal finance community, all the cool new folks I met, and the great folks at @finconexpo, especially Jessica and Libby, my fellow community panel members and the speaker selection committee, who have all worked so hard to make the event and community represent the world today. Feeling the love in a big way. 🥰 [images: me with my fellow speakers and lots of friends at FinCon, often very sweaty because Florida oh my goodness 😂]
Video tour of the main garden as September begins. Everything is big and happy. 🥰
The garden at its peak. 🥰 The cruel truth of high elevation gardening is that frost could come any day now and wipe a lot of this out. (Although at the moment we are in a historic heat wave.) But the start of September is when the garden is at its absolute biggest and best, and I’m trying to spend every moment I can just soaking this up. 🌱 [image: wide view of the garden with lots of tall plants including sunflowers, sweet peas climbing up the arch, and pole beans climbing up the trellis.] #highelevationgardening #highaltitudegardening #mountaingarden #mountainlife #zone6gardening #coldclimategardening #growyourown #growyourownfood #gardening
